Course Benefits

  • It will give you Knowledge, skills and competencies for employment in Quality Assurance Jobs, being with government agencies or within the private sector and wherever there is a need for quality assurance. 
  • Ideal for educational employees to become conversant in Quality Assurance policies of their employer. 
  • To move up in your career and work in Quality Assurance within educational institutions (governmental or private). 
  • It’s funded by the Get Qualified Scheme (70% tax credit to eligible applicants), which means you only pay a quarter of the course fee. 

Course Delivery

  • All sessions relate to each other within a clear framework of CPD course objectives.
  • Delivered by Quality Assurance leader Mr. Gino Schiavone. 
  • 100% online, part time - 1 session per week (Monday, with a repeated session on a Saturday, or by on demand lecture video).

Accreditation

Accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority as a Higher Education course/programme and is pegged to the MQF/EQF at Level 7 (34 ECTS) – which means it’s recognised and accredited throughout the EU.

  • A degree at EQF level 6 along with English proficiency at C1 level (IELT 6.5 to 7.5) OR  
  • RPL for those who already have experiences in educational institutions with English proficiency at C1 level (IELT 6.5 to 7.5) OR  
  • Maturity clause (student over 21 years of age) with English proficiency at C1 level (IELT 6.5 to 7.5). (These students have to pass from the first two modules in order to continue)

Entry Requirements

26 weeks maximum (depending if student works on weekends or not). The course uses a modular delivery of 26 weeks for full time and a possibility of up to 1 year for part-time to allow the student at his own pace.  For full time there are 3 weeks each for the 3 modules with 4 credits making it in 9 weeks while the other 6 modules are estimated at 2 weeks each making it at 12 weeks leaving 5 weeks to finalise the research paper. Extensions can be given according to the Mitigating Policy and procedures as presented in the Quality Assurance Manual with reference to Policies and Procedures.

The total fee is 1,500 Euros but residents of Malta will be eligible for  partial refund through the Get Qualified scheme ( 70% Tax credit on successful postgraduate certificate completion).


Each module will be assessed by means of Questions, discussions, analysis, comparisons and short writings. The Research paper will be assessed by means of a 5,000 word position paper.

  • The next start date will be 27th June 2022. 


  • The session will take place on Mondays between 5 to 7pm, whilst a repeat session will be held on  Saturday mornings between 9 to 11am.


  • Recorded sessions will be available for those students who miss any one of the above sessions.

Lecturer

Gino Schiavone

Currently the Head of Quality Assurance at the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS Malta), Gino is an ECVET National expert in Malta. He is qualified in Tertiary Education Management with a specialisation in Quality Assurance at EQF Level 7 from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Gino also developed the first accredited EQF Level 7  Quality assurance course with 34 ECTS to be delivered online, at eie Institute of Education. He recently finalised a paper entitled "Internationalisation and Quality Assurance: A European framework perspective. " Gino will be delivering this Level 7 qualification and is looking forward to meeting challenged learners who wish to pursue their QA knowledge.
