Information Technology Pathway

eie Institute of Education's qualifications are designed to ensure that each learner is a confident, independent thinker with a detailed knowledge of Information Technology, and equipped with the skills to adapt rapidly to change at a junior or middle management level, and aspiring into higher management within their organisation or industry. The qualifications are ideal for those who have started, or are planning to move into, an I.T. career in the private or public sector business, both in Malta and even abroad. Our I.T. pathway is made up as follows:  

  • Level 4 Diploma in Information Technology (MQF/EQF Level 5) - 1 year 

Leading to 

  • Level 5 Diploma in Information Technology (MQF/EQF Level 5) - 1 year

Leading to

  • Level 6 Diploma in Information Technology (MQF/EQF Level 6) - 1 year

Leading to

  • MSc IT Service Management  - 2 years

COURSE DESCRIPTION


The objective of the OTHM Level 4 / 5 Diploma in Information Technology is to provide learners with an excellent foundation for a career in a range of organisations. It is designed to ensure that each learner is ‘business ready’: a confident, independent thinker with a detailed knowledge of Information Technology, and equipped with the skills to adapt rapidly to change.


The qualification is ideal for those who have started, or are planning to move into, a career in private or public sector business. Successful completion of the Level 4 / 5 Diploma in Information Technology will provide learners with the opportunity to progress to further study or employment.


The Level 4 modules and assignments of this course are equivalent to the first year of a University Degree and the Level 5 modules and assignments are equivalent to the second year of a University Degree.


This course is made up of 6 Level 4 modules (120 UK credits/60 ECTS) and 6 level 5 modules (120 UK credits/60 ECTS). Each level also includes 6 written assignments. 


If a student decides to only study at Level 4 they will receive 120 credits and can apply for an exemption from the first year of a university Degree course. Each module consists of approximately 80 guided learning hours of material with an additional 30-50 hours of optional learning material. These materials comprise recommended exercises, recommended readings and internet resources.


The Diplomas are awarded by OTHM. This is an approved foreign higher education programme.

ELIGIBILITY


To enrol onto the OTHM Level 4 course, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a full secondary education. Before enrolling onto the OTHM Level 5 course, you must have attained a Level 4 or equivalent.


CAREER PATH


The OTHM Level 4 / 5 Diploma in Information Technology qualification has been developed with career progression and professional recognition in mind. Successful completion of this qualification provides learners the opportunity for a wide range of academic progressions including Level 6 Diploma in Information Technology.


ASSESSMENT


The OTHM Level 4/5 Diploma in Information Technology has 6 modules and 6 written assignments at each level. On completion of the modules, students will be given the assignment questions. The assignments are approximately 3000-5000 words each.

Academic Year - Euro 7,500

(No Payment terms available - Full fee is payable prior to the start of the course) 


Maltese & EU Nationals: 

Academic Year - Euro 4,000 (Payment terms available - please ask for more information)* 


FUNDING


*This course is eligible for funding under the Get Qualified Scheme. Upon Successful completion of the course, eligible students will be able to recover up to 70% of expenses on both the registration and tuition fees paid when starting the course. COURSE DESCRIPTION


The OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Information Technology is designed to ensure that each learner is a confident, independent thinker with a detailed knowledge of Information Technology, and equipped with the skills to adapt rapidly to change at a junior or middle management level and aspiring into higher management within their organisation or industry. The qualification is ideal for those who have started, or are planning to move into, a career in private or public sector business.


The OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Information Technology consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification. Materials comprise recommended exercises, recommended readings and internet resources.


Equivalences


OTHM qualifications at RQF Level 6 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Bachelor’s Degrees with Honours, Bachelor’s Degrees, Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Graduate Diplomas and Graduate Certificates.

Registration Process

  • Students will receive a Conditional Offer Letter and an Invoice within 48 hours after applying through the Application link below.
  • Once all the conditions of the Offer Letter are fulfilled and a payment is effected after the signature of the Student Agreement, the institute will issue a Letter of Acceptance and a receipt of payment confirming the course registration and the fees paid.
