EIE Institute of Education's, aim is to provide Accounting related qualifications designed for learners who wish to pursue a career in the financial services industry, professional accountancy, banking and finance or management. The qualifications equip learners with the essential skills and knowledge needed to pursue high level careers in all types of organisations in the public and private sector and within industry & commerce, both in Malta and abroad.

COURSE DESCRIPTION


 

Accounting and finance are at the very heart of business operations. From banking to manufacturing, from huge service industries to micro businesses, the ability to manage, plan and account for money is still the ultimate measure of business success and the key driver of growth.


The objective of the OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Accounting and Business qualification is to provide learners with an understanding of accounting and business in the broader business context, and to provide them with the practical, industry-focused skills to manage business finances, budgets and cash flow effectively, and to play a key role in business growth.


The objective of the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Business qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required by a middle manager in an organisation that may be involved in financial management, financial planning and control, financial reporting, taxation and people management.


The Level 4 modules and assignments of this course are equivalent to the first year of a University Degree and the Level 5 modules and assignments are equivalent to the second year of a University Degree.


This course is made up of 6 Level 4 modules (120 credits) and 6 level 5 modules (120 credits). Each level also includes 6 written assignments. If a student decides to only study at Level 4 they will receive 120 credits and can apply for an exemption from the first year of a university Degree course. 


Each module consists of approximately 80 guided learning hours of material with an additional 30-50 hours of optional learning material. These materials comprise recommended exercises, recommended readings and internet resources.


The Diplomas are awarded by OTHM. 


This course is offered by EIE Institute of Education, through Concordia Global International, an OTHM accredited Centre.

ELIGIBILITY


To enrol onto the Level 4 course, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a full secondary education together with an accounting background at Level 3 or A Level standard. Before enrolling onto the Level 5 course, you must have attained a Level 4 or equivalent in the same subject.


CAREER PATH


Successful completion of the Level 4 Diploma in Accounting and Business qualification provides learners the opportunity for a wide range of academic progressions including progression to relevant OTHM Level 5 Diplomas, including the Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Business qualification. The Level 4 Diploma in Accounting and Business has been developed with career progression and professional recognition in mind. 


Successful completion of Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Business qualification provides learners the opportunity for a wide range of academic progressions including progression to Level 6 Diploma in Accounting and Business, and other relevant OTHM Level 6 Diplomas. The Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Business has been developed with career progression and professional recognition in mind. 


ASSESSMENT


The OTHM Level 4/5 Diploma in Accounting and Business has 6 modules and 6 written assignments at each level. On completion of the modules, students will be given the assignment questions. The assignments are approximately 3000-5000 words each.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Many accountants occupy key managerial positions in business, yet few are qualified managers. In the increasingly complex modern business environment, there is a high demand for skilled professionals who can work flexibly in teams across business boundaries.


The objective of the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Accounting and Business qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required by a middle or senior manager in an organisation, and who may be involved in managing organisational finances, investment and risk, audit and assurance, or research.



The OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Accounting and Business consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification. Materials comprise recommended exercises, recommended readings and internet resources.


Equivalences


OTHM qualifications at RQF Level 6 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Bachelor’s Degrees with Honours, Bachelor’s Degrees, Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Graduate Diplomas and Graduate Certificates.

COURSE DESCRIPTION


The objective of the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Accounting and Finance qualification is to provide learners with an understanding of:


  • contemporary and specialised approaches to accountancy and finance
  • key practical, theoretical and empirical issues, and academic research
  • the complexity of the ever-changing legal framework in which the financial sector operates
  • the latest developments in accountancy and reporting required by local, national and European government.


This qualification is designed for learners who wish to pursue a career in the financial services industry, professional accountancy, banking and finance or management. The qualification equips learners with the essential skills and knowledge needed to pursue high level careers in all types of organisations in the public and private sector and within industry and commerce, both in Malta and abroad.


The Level 7 Diploma in Accounting and Finance qualification also provides learners with the opportunity to work toward a relevant master’s programme with advanced standing.


The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Accounting and Finance qualification consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

ELIGIBILITY


For entry onto the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Accounting and Finance qualification, learners must possess:


  • An honours degree in related subject or UK level 6 diploma or an equivalent overseas qualification
  • Mature learners (over 21) with management experience.
  • Learner must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course
  • English language competency evidence.


CAREER PATH


The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Accounting and Finance qualification enables learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their further study. As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual, learners are eligible to progress to Master’s top-up programmes at many universities in the UK and overseas with advanced standing.
