Master of Business Administration (Executive) Top-Up MBA

Our MBA courses are carefully designed to offer you an in-depth knowledge of all critical business areas and functions. The Master of Business Administration Executive is a globally recognised postgraduate qualification for ambitious, motivated professionals. Our MBA Executive Top-up course is designed to enable holders of the Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) (or equivalent UK and international qualifications) to gain an MBA qualification in just one year. You will take one module and submit the Business Research Report which will top up your Diploma to sufficient credits to be awarded an MBA. This course is available to study by distance learning.

How will you Study

Your teaching will be delivered electronically and you will be encouraged to engage with your fellow students and tutors online. Studying online will give you the flexibility to study at your convenience without the need to travel or physically attend classes, whilst enhancing your employment opportunities. You will be aided throughout the process by our supportive teaching staff that are professionally qualified and have industry and academic experience to share with you. Studying the MBA Executive course will give you an opportunity to gain a professional accreditation in Marketing and Project Management. 

Course Content

Our MBA Executive Top-up is designed to enhance your knowledge and skills that you will have developed during previous postgraduate business or management study. This course allows you to consider issues in an organisation or total business context. Your skills in analysing business and organisational problems will be enhanced throughout your time with us. The course focuses on developing your strategic thinking within an organisation as well as enhancing your ability to recognise potential business opportunities and develop strategies to cope with managing change. You will be instructed in management research techniques, enabling you to fulfil the demands of the course assessment scheme and complete a business research project.

  • Business Research Project (50 credits) - Module code: STRM044


Entry Requirements

If you hold any of the following qualifications then you will be eligible for entry onto this course:

  • a first or second class honours degree from a British University (or equivalent)
  • a Diploma in Management Studies from a British University (120 credits at Level 7/PG)
  • Edexcel Extended Diploma in Strategy Management (120 credits at Level 7/PG)
  • Association of Business Executives (ABE) PG Diploma in Business Management (120 credits at Level 7/PG)
  • NCC Education PG Diploma in Business Management (120 credits at Level 7/PG)
  • ATHE Diploma in Strategic Management (120 credits at Level 7/PG)

In addition to the qualifications listed above, we ask that you have a minimum of two years of relevant management experience. We will consider your application if you can prove any prior credit or experiential learning that is relevant to the course. As this postgraduate qualification will attract professional practitioners and managers, you may be admitted on the basis of an assessment of meaningful and measurable prior learning or professional experience. Other qualifications may provide full or partial exemption from modules on the MBA. Please contact our Admissions Team for further information.

English Language Requirements

If your native language is not English you must provide evidence of your English language capability at a level approved by the University. The level required for study on masters degree courses is IELTS 6.5 or its equivalent.   

Funding Opportunities & Other Information

This Masters degree is awarded by the University of Northampton and is recognised by the NCFHE at MQF Level 7. This course is eligible for funding under the Get Qualified Scheme. Upon Successful completion of the course, students will be able to recover up to 70% of expenses on both the registration and tuition fees paid when starting the course.
